This class will introduce the student to three different Serato programs and teach how to implement the software. Visit serato.com to download the software. You must complete this class before you advance to the next.
This class will focus on use of the headphone and the duality of listening to music that is being currently played while selecting the next song to be played.
This class will introduce the concept of bar counting and give students an opportunity to try various exercises to count bars of 4.  This skill is a crucial to the art of deejaying.
This class will focus on a key element of deejaying, understanding beats per minute will allow the deejay to control timing of the song.
This class will emphasize on how to stagger your music list and not exhaust your music repertoire too early.
The fader is an elemental tool of the deejay and in this class you will learn to control how to transition from one turntable to the other.
This class will teach how to use equalizers to enhance your sound. 
This class will teach how to set up a predetermined cue point in any song.
This class will explore how to change the tempo of a song using the tone wheel as an alternate to the pitch control when blending songs.
The class will demonstrate how to locate the one count in a song and how to use it as the release point in a transition.
The class will teach how to use 4-8 bar DJ intros in a song to transition or remix music. Students will have an opportunity to practice using DJ intros.
This class will examine the importance of pitch control and teach students the art of controlling song speed while mixing.

Students should have a basic ability to create music productions, including a working knowledge of musical terms and concepts.

Software Requirements / Optional
Logic Pro X (Logic Express is not supported in this course)

  • At least 40 GB storage space to install all optional Logic content (large content packages can be installed on separate disk)
  • OSX Snow Leopard Or Higher
  • Music Bible / Purchased At Registration

  • MAC Or PC Computer (We Have In-House Computers For Students To Use)
  • DJ Controller / Turntables (We Have In-House Equipment For Students To Use)
  • Headphones
  • 1, 2, or 3 TB Hardrive
